Check out my new stylings

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 21, 2009, 4:55 PM
Dear deviantARTists,

Hello! How are you? Me? I'm doing well, keeping busy with work and allowing my mind to wander and roam into different creative channels. For instance, I just updated the look of my Twitter account, and then decided to do the same here on my devJournal.

I caught that nasty flu bug going around my neck of the woods and had to miss a couple days of work. Lame, considering my love for money. (You need it if you're going to take over the world, after all.) Oh - and I've been listening to an embarrassing amount of new-school Backstreet Boys.

Early mornings...
...here I come.

It has been decided that where I am employed, the daily staff in my position will be starting an hour earlier in the morning - from 7 AM to 6 AM. This is okay with me, as, despite evidence to the contrary, I love the morning. The air is just so damn crisp. There's also talk of working overnights again... RIVETING.

Playing god is still tough work.

But I still absolutely recommend it. =]

Living Centuries from NOW: An Update

Journal Entry: Fri May 15, 2009, 9:03 PM
I've been feeling really spacey lately. You could say that I've been living far, far away - deep in the recesses of my imagination.

Certainly not in school. Absolutely not.

I've decided that I wasn't ready to go back. (Too bad I figured it out $3000+ later...) Besides, the courses were not exactly what I had in mind. Not at all. The last two months of my foray into the world of education was all for naught, as my failure to focus on that education caused failure of another kind. And I'm actually okay with that.

I can honestly say that in the realm of Web Design, thousands of dollars taught me very little. Whether it was simply my previous knowledge of the field or the lack of courses that focus on web design (directly or indirectly), we may never know. All that's left is for me to decide whether or not to return.

For the moment, I choose not. I'm too busy foraying into another world. A world all my own.

"It began with a storm..."
...and was shelved immediately.

So remember back when I had all those polls? A new one each day of the week? I called it the "Week of Polls"? Yeah, me neither.
It was all tied to a story that was going to be fleshed out and artistically presented with the help of ~Dek-is-Filthy. Forget about it. He moved to the big city and got himself a real job. (Congrats, really!) That story is on indefinite hold, stored way in the back of my cramped little cupboard.
I've got something else in the oven.

Playing god is tough work, people.
(That's not to say I don't recommend it.)

I've been trying to get my ass in gear and write something lately. It's been so long since I just sat down and devoted myself to words; devoted myself to telling a story. But I hope things are turning up.

As I said, I've been very spacey lately, and much like the story that I've shelved, what I'm working on is rooted in science fiction. Basics are set, I just have to flesh it out and decide how I wish to present it. The previous collaboration was going to be presented in graphic novel form, and I wish to do the same here. That being said, I would have to get back to the drawing board (literally) and force myself to deliver.

I would love to do this, but I fear I don't have the time or patience to see it through. Do you think it's a good idea?

Winding down and tuning in

  • Mood: Optimism
Guess who just got the internet back? =D

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't super excited. Also: cable. Haven't had cable since August '08. What am I talking about so late in the evening? Oh, right - I'll be back to devART in full soon. Just let me finish out this semester and kind of... breathe.

Until then, feel free to follow my Twitter/blog combo. Be back soon!

UPDATE Mon Apr 20, 2009

Today marks the end of my latest devSubscription. Much like the last time it ran out, I won't be resubscribing - at least not right away.

Because I'm a stickler for design, I won't be updating my devJournal until 1) I resubscribe, or 2) something absolutely Earth-shattering happens. To keep up to date, check in on my Twitter.

Happy Spring!

Polls, moved, school, music. GO.
March 17, 2009

Hey people, first thing's first - I was to thank everyone who took part in my week long poll experiment. I'm proud to say that the results are, for the most part, very close to what I was hoping for. =]

I have a quick update for you today made possible by the bacteria in my throat!

So what's this all about?
(wherein you learn nothing)

~Dek-is-Filthy and I have been talking about working together on another project recently. There's nothing to say that this one is going to take off any better than anything else we've tried, and I actually just learned that he's going to be bogged down with portfolio work for the next few weeks... after which he will be headed to Edmonton for practicum... and possibly forever.

Now I'm down. =[

Anyway...

Moved!
No internet until April

We've moved into our new place! Hooray! Unluckily for everyone, once we move the computer there on Friday, I'll be without internet until early April.

Sure there's school internet, but seeing as I'm sick now and going to Alberta for the entirety of next week, I'll likely be sticking to schoolwork.

Afterwards I'll be back and the internet won't know what to do with me! =D

Week of POLLS:

Tuesday - Poll 2
Wednesday - Poll 3
Thursday - Poll 4

ACTIVE WATCHERS: A Week of Questions

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 8, 2009, 6:47 PM
  • Mood: Optimism
Dearest watchers (and random passers-by),

I present to you a task. Not so much an obligation, but a mere option. As some of you may know, ~Dek-is-Filthy and I are at it again. If you are unfamiliar with our dynamic, I make some word jargon, then he makes some draw hoopla. The basics for our newest project have been established and we're entering "flesh-out" phase. So what is your task?

To take part in some polling.

This week - from the 9th to the 13th - I will post a new poll every day, and it is your sworn duty, no, your ultimate destiny to answer them all.

Or not. I can't make you. But I would sure-as-beans appreciate the input.

I assure you, the feedback will not affect the major direction of the project in the slightest. "Then what the hell is the point?" you ask? The point is plenty. (Okay, that didn't make sense.) The point is, I want to know what you want. What do you, my beloved audience enjoy when it comes to this sort of thing, if at all, and how best can I please you in the future?

Y'see, this brainbaby has already been born. But if my head is to be impregnated again, how can I splice the DNA in different, interesting ways that will entertain you 'til it kills you?

Soon I will know.

Life Changes in the Making
March is going to be PACKED...

I'm not going to go too far into the details, but March is going to be an even busier month for me than February was. POINT FORM TIME.

- Lindsay and I are moving.
- - five blocks away

- Travelling to Alberta with a couple friends.
- - seeing Mindless Self Indulgence in concert
- - shopping
- - will be poooooor

- Back to school
- - lots to work on, especially with trip

More details and maybe pictures to come soon. =]

Spring Break is here!

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 27, 2009, 9:38 PM
  • Mood: Optimism
Yes, spring break has arrived! So, one might imagine that would mean more free time - more deviant time. One might be wrong.
No, I still have to go to school over the break to work on that nasty after-hours project that looms over us, ready to break our arms and... scrape our knees...

...

Anyway, no extra deviant time for this guy. I do have some things to upload, however, and you might be able to figure out what by looking at that nifty little "Current Project" nodule to the right. (I mean, it's all spelt out for you. Grammar and everything.)

Today I wrapped up the creation and conception of two websites for school projects. One of them I previously mentioned: a website based on ADDF and the release of Confirmation. Expect to see images soon. The other was a digital imaging assignment where we had to take an era of film (30s thru 70s) and create a "film festival" site. You might catch a glimpse of that one, too.

Enjoy your spring break! =D

Feb 17th, 2009 - Personal day + boredom = another revamp!

Moar devJournal Redesign!
a.k.a. I got really bored today

What do you think? =D I'm rather excited. This journal style is shaping up nicely and I'm sure as hell enjoying the ability to play around with it again. Perhaps more so because it's a design of my own, on my own terms.

(BTW: if you don't see rounded corners on this lovely pink box, you're using IE, and as a web designer, I cannot recommend enough that you stop doing that. ...with love, of course.)

Also: Just solidified more details for my March trip to Alberta. EXCITING. That's all for now!
